The €620 million scheme by GEK TERNA | TERNA ENERGY recently reached financial close and is set to enable enhanced energy storage and increased renewable energy (RES) penetration in the energy mix in Greece and southeastern Europe, with forecast annual energy production of approximately 816 GWh.
With a total installed capacity of 680 MW (production) and 730 MW (pumping), the scheme includes two independent upper reservoirs in Agios Georgios and Pyrgos, with lake Kastraki as its lower reservoir.
