The old, ancient and Listed skylines and landscapes of the UK are homes to a vast array of buildings and derelict sites – as well as tremendous development opportunities for the informed. We have history in this area.
Building Conservation and Heritage is a specialist area of expertise within McBains, not least because we, as a firm, outdated many of the buildings we assess and advise upon.
In simple terms, few property developers, owners, influencers or advisers understand the true extent of what is available, allowable and achievable amongst the stock of Listed buildings and Heritage sites for investors.
That’s primarily down to the intricacies of the conservation regulations in the UK. But we are highly-experienced in working with owners and occupiers of historic buildings and estates, and possess the depth of experience and expertise required to meet the technical and cultural requirements of The National Trust, English Heritage and other regional and national conservation bodies. If we don’t know it, it probably isn’t worth knowing.
Our expertise spans across our interdiscipline services, in particular within Architecture, Building Surveying, Project and cost management in the building conservation area. A specialist knowledge of building techniques and conservation policy and practice gives us the ability to conserve historic status or blend the old with the new, dependant on demands placed upon the particular building or environment.
We don’t believe in standing still, and believe that historic assets have a future as well as a past. By understanding the past, the future can be shaped to best suit the needs of the particular asset.
