Project progress and community action come together at Evaggelismos Hospital

Last week, members of our Athens office team stepped away from their desks for a valuable day that connected their professional work with community impact.

The day began with a site progress meeting at the Nursing School of the “Evaggelismos” General Hospital of Athens, where our team is providing employer’s agent and project monitoring services.

The project involves the major refurbishment of the existing Nursing School building, with a total budget of €12 million and an 18-month development programme. It is being realised through a donation from shipping company COSTAMARE to the Greek Ministry of Health.

Our role includes providing technical consultancy services to the employer, the Board of Evaggelismos Hospital, monitoring the project budget and programme, and supporting coordination between the EPC contractor and the design teams.

Once complete, the refurbished 7,000-square-metre building will provide modern classrooms, laboratories, offices, an amphitheatre, gym and shared spaces. The initiative aims to improve training and working conditions for nursing and medical staff, supporting the hospital’s long-term contribution to healthcare education and patient care.

To support the hospital’s life-saving mission beyond our technical scope, colleagues also took part in a team blood donation during the visit.

Director George Papadopoulos said: “This was a powerful reminder that our work is about more than buildings and programmes. By supporting the redevelopment of the Nursing School, and by contributing personally through blood donation, our team was able to see first-hand how technical expertise and community spirit can come together to create lasting positive impact.”

The team rounded off the day by catching up over coffee and lunch, taking the opportunity to reflect on the progress of the project, the real-world impact of their work and the importance of collaboration.
