A formal planning application submitted by McBains on behalf of the London Borough of Merton for a new sixth form block at Ricards Lodge High School in Wimbledon has been approved.
The design comprises a two-storey building featuring three science classrooms / laboratories and associated prep room areas, a CAD suite, two staff offices, a sixth form café, independent study space and ancillary accommodation.
Anna Kealey, Director at McBains, commented: “Demand for sixth form places is growing nationally and our scheme at Ricards Lodge High School will expand the sixth form capacity and allow more students to continue their education at an Ofsted ‘outstanding’ school”.
Ricards Lodge High School secured capital funding for the project from the Department for Education’s Post-16 Capacity Fund in the latest round of successful bids announced in June 2023.
McBains is providing architecture, civil and structural engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, sustainability advice and principle designer services to the London Borough of Merton.
