Matthew Baldwin

Matt is a chartered architect and Project Director within our London design division, who has been with McBains since 2015 and specialises in mixed-use, residential and retail projects from early planning through to construction. 

Alongside his design expertise, Matt is a confident project manager, helping clients navigate every stage of a project from concept to completion and guiding multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex programmes successfully.

Matt’s interest in architecture started at a young age. Growing up in a family business building narrowboats, he developed a fascination with how things are put together and the satisfaction of creating something from the ground up. 

He enjoys the variety architecture brings, from working with different clients to taking ownership of projects across the full range of RIBA stages. He’s also passionate about opening up alternative routes into the profession, supporting T-Level students and work experience placements to help broaden access to architecture.

Outside work, Matt spends most of his time with his wife, young son and dog, and is a keen rugby fan - although he admits he’s best avoided on a Monday if England have been beaten over the weekend!
