Stuart Smart

A chartered quantity surveyor with a strong technical background and a people-first approach, Stuart joined McBains in 2018 as a senior surveyor. Since then, he’s ascended through the ranks to become Director - a trajectory that reflects both his expertise and the impact he’s made within the business.

Holding a BSc (Hons) in Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying, and memberships with MRICS, MCIOB and MAPM, Stuart brings a well-rounded perspective to his role. He has particular expertise in data centres, education and engineering projects, and enjoys the variety the job brings - especially the opportunity to meet new people and collaborate on interesting, complex schemes. 

Achieving chartered status with the RICS was a defining career moment for Stuart, and it’s something he remains passionate about today; actively supporting others at McBains through the APC process and helping the next generation of surveyors and project managers achieve their own professional goals.

Outside work, you’ll usually find Stuart out on his mountain bike, walking the dog, or listening to a healthy dose of 80s and 90s music.
