As Director of Engineering and Environmental Initiatives, Anthony is the driving force behind McBains' desire to save the planet - not just from an environmental perspective, but from bad design.
Anthony, a chartered engineer, has been to prison several times, and found himself in sniper's sights on the roof of one of the Royal palaces in England. His prison visits were to inspect geothermal energy generation systems – and his rooftop scare was while talking on his mobile phone during an inspection of a senior Royal’s water tank.
Anthony has an international background: of Greek origin born in Egypt, multi-lingual, loves Italian food, rates the Bahamas as his favourite destination, the skylines of New York and the City of London as the best – and was once a forklift truck driver in the port of Alexandria.
pioneered the use of geothermal energy in the UK, with his ideas and solutions
going on to become industry-standard. He has extensive experience of designing
and implementing sustainable solutions for a wide variety of building types,
and has won numerous industry awards and commendations.
