Mark may have set out for a career as an airline pilot, but now defines skylines rather than flies over them.
Mark heads up the design disciplines at McBains, which encompass architecture, civil and structural engineering and mechanical and electrical engineering. He is RIBA-qualified architect with a BA Hons Degree in Architecture, a Post Graduate Diploma in Architecture, and a Diploma in Architectural Practice.
He believes that good design has a simple economy, is functional, honest, sustainable, innovative and above all, long-lasting. His role heading up the design services of McBains means he plays a central role in managing and developing the firm's culture and processes.
He has firsthand experience of great designs and one of the most inspiring of skylines: “I spent time at the Parisian school of design and architecture. One evening the students all brought their musical instruments along and put on a jazz show on the roof among the chimney pots whilst drinking Pernod with the Pompidou, Eiffel Tower and Sacre Coeur as a backdrop.”
