Construction of a new multi-use and eco-friendly community centre, together with 16 three-bedroom town houses on a 6-acre site.
The Claire Tiltman Centre in Stone, Kent is named after a local schoolgirl and Stone Parish resident who was tragically murdered in 1993. The community centre is intended as a positive tribute to Claire, to be enjoyed by local youth and ecology groups in her memory.

Featuring a 200 square metre, multi-use community hall, meeting room and break out space, together with toilet and shower facilities, a large kitchen, storage areas and 4 acres of grounds, the community facility will primarily be used by scout groups, a local forest school and for Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme activities.
The eco-friendly building features a mechanical ventilation heating and air-cooling system, solar photovoltaic panels, rainwater harvesting and electric vehicle charging points.
The centre was funded by the construction and sale of 16 three-bedroom town houses, which were constructed on part of the c. 6-acre site.
McBains was appointed by developer and long-standing client Merlin Danesmount to provide building surveying led multidisciplinary consultancy services to the mixed-use scheme.
