Fylde View Hub
Blackpool, Lancashire
A purpose-built office building for staff of the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) in the heart of Blackpool town centre.
Luton, Bedfordshire
Luton Borough Council
We were appointed by Luton Borough Council to explore feasibility options to improve the functionality and appearance of Luton library to enhance its civic presence, activate the ground floor frontage, enhance the library provision on level 1-2 and potentially repurpose the upper floors to create a flexible community hub, co-working areas, meeting rooms and event spaces.
The options proposed by our multi-disciplinary team range from a straight-forward refurbishment with minimal structural changes to an aspirational ‘significant intervention’ that would involve rebuilding the third and fourth floors and adding a fully accessible roof terrace above level 4 to improve the efficiency of the space and give a new identity to the building.
The introduction of a ‘welcome hub’, along with gallery / exhibition space and new food and beverage offerings with alfresco dining at ground floor level would activate the building’s main frontages to St George’s Square and ‘The Gap’.
The library on levels 1 and 2 would be enhanced with improved quiet spaces, a children’s corner and archive showcase, supported by upgraded amenities.
Our feasibility options include the proposal of a new community hub with maker studios, bookable work/meeting rooms, an education centre, double-height multi-purpose hall, community breakout spaces and roof terraces.
