One Spinningfields Square – Natwest Group’s new northern headquarters – was recently named winner of the best ‘corporate workplace’ category for the North region at the BCO Awards 2024. The project will now go on to compete against other regional category winners at the BCO National Awards taking place in London on October 8, 2024.
The extensive refurbishment project for Natwest Group has transformed eight floors of One Spinningfields Square into a vibrant destination hub for Natwest staff, with a focus on inclusivity, accessibility and staff wellbeing that has been delivered through the provision of wellness facilities, a multi-faith room, quiet tech-free areas and an external roof terrace.
The flexible workplace gives staff a choice of work settings for different activities, including spaces for collaboration and for focused work, formal and informal meeting rooms, quiet tech-free zones and a client suite.
Dubbed Natwest’s flagship building for sustainability, the refurbished premises incorporate technology and innovation; with the scheme achieving the RICS SKA gold accreditation – the highest level of sustainable fit-out using the rating method.
Adrian Southgate, Director at McBains, commented: “We’re delighted that this project has received the recognition it deserves. The refurbishment has transformed the space and delivered a truly inspiring workplace for staff and clients to enjoy”.
The project is also currently shortlisted for a North West Regional Construction Award in the Regeneration and Retrofit category, with winners due to be announced on July 5, 2024.
McBains provided cost management to the scheme.
